MATLAB Link Module
HOMER’s “dispatch strategy algorithm” decides which components (solar, battery, generators, etc.) will operate to meet the load in a particular period of time. The MATLAB Link Module allows you to create and use your own dispatch strategy within HOMER Pro. You code the dispatch algorithm in MATLAB, which will integrate with the HOMER Pro software. This MATLAB Link feature gives you total control over how you want your microgrid model to work.
MATLAB Link is only one part of a suite of features that give engineers almost total control over how a microgrid will operate. Combined with features such as the generic component, Generator Order Dispatch, and two APIs, HOMER Pro moves from being modeling to being a platform for understanding microgrid and DER operations.
Controller manufacturers who want to distribute their control algorithms within HOMER can do so with the Controller API. The Controller API lets you design and test how your controller algorithms will operate in HOMER using MATLAB, and then distribute your proprietary algorithm either in public versions of HOMER or to your own engineers or customers. The MATLAB Link Module requires a separate license for MATLAB, available from Mathworks.
